Why?

So what has made me decide to start a blog?

Well, I've always thought of it as a good idea but have seldom found the time or had the belief that I had anything relevant to contribute to the harsh and scary world of the Internet. I've started one previously but it fizzled out after only a few posts - I can't exactly remember why.

So what will be different this time? I think now I have genuine belief that I have relevant information and experiences to contribute, specifically within the areas of Agile, Continuous Delivery, DevOps and all the related buzzwords and tools that come along for the ride. This is mostly from attending the second WinOps conference; it has definitely re-energized me after a while of feeling a bit weary of things - affirmative confirmation that you're trying to do the right thing is a great tonic. I'm not going to go into any detail on the conference, but I would strongly recommend taking a look at 's post on the event for a great review https://sammart.in/winops-conference-london-2/. Overall WinOps 2016 was a great success and was an improvement over last year - great speakers and content and hopefully it will go from strength to strength. I'll also need to try to attend some of the monthly meetups when possible.

What do I plan to write about? Typically it will be tech related, but I will also throw in a few random posts about life, sport, remote working and so on, especially when I can relate it to tech. Also expect the design of the blog to change over time, I've just thrown together something quickly to force myself to get going with this with the help of a lovely template. It isn't great but it'll do.

Finally, why scene316? It has always been my video game tag name, is in most of my online identities and so on, so it feels right just to stick with it.
